Traveling abroad can be stressful, so we are here to help! We've reserved a room block at Mongena Private Game Lodge, where all the wedding fun will happen. For guests planning to arrive a few days early, we'll also have a room block at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Pretoria Menlyn. We recommend staying there if you're coming in early — it's in a safe area, close to lots of great restaurants, and a perfect spot to relax before heading out to the lodge.
There are also plenty of other awesome places to stay nearby if you want to explore different options. Whether you're joining us for the full safari experience or planning to do a little extra adventuring, we can't wait to share this amazing trip with you!
When to Arrive
We recommend planning your arrival in South Africa no later than March 19, 2026 if you’d like to join us for all the wedding festivities! Our Bush Braai is Friday night, and the wedding is on Saturday, so arriving by the 19th gives you plenty of time to settle in. Many international flights that go through the US East coast, land in the evening so we suggest staying overnight at a hotel near the airport that offers shuttle service — we’ve listed a few options below and are working on securing room blocks as soon as we have a better headcount. All transportation to Mongena Private Game Lodge will be provided from the airport on Friday.
If you happen to arrive earlier in the day and want to do a little exploring, let us know — we’re happy to recommend hotels and activities! We do highly recommend avoiding travel into downtown Johannesburg, as it can be less safe compared to other nearby areas.

If you arrive on March 19, we recommend staying at the Protea Hotel O.R. Tambo. It’s a comfortable and convenient place to relax before and after the wedding festivities. All transportation to and from Mongena departs and arrives here.
Cape Town Travel & Accommodations

We plan to fly together from O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) to Cape Town International Airport (CPT) on March 23, 2026. We'll be there from March 23 to March 27, but if you want to stay longer, go for it—Cape Town is absolutely fantastic!
There are lots of airlines that fly this route. If you're a fan of collecting United points (like us!), you'll be happy to know South African Airways is part of the Star Alliance. If not, no worries—FlySafair is a great budget-friendly option!
When it's time to head home, you can choose to fly back to O.R Tambo (JNB) or directly from Cape Town—the choice is yours! We can't wait to see you all there!
