Travel & Accommodations
Ready to Join the Fun? Start Here.
Ready to join the fun, but not quite sure how to book everything? No worries—just follow the steps below. We’ve got you covered!
-
The first step is to book your flight to South Africa. Tools like Hopper can help you find great airfare deals.
When booking, please keep the following in mind:
You’ll need to fly into O.R. Tambo International Airport — airport code JNB.
Please plan to arrive no later than March 19, 2026.
Once you’ve booked, email your flight details to Marius at mdewet@mac.com so we can finalize your transportation from the airport to the lodge.
-
If you’re arriving before March 19th, 2025 and prefer not to head straight to the wedding venue, we’ve arranged room blocks at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Menlyn. It’s located in the heart of Menlyn—a vibrant, safe area with excellent shopping and restaurants just steps away.
You’ll find the booking link below. Once you’ve reserved your room, please email Marius at mdewet@mac.com so we can coordinate transportation to the hotel for you.
-
Next, you’ll want to reserve your room at the wedding venue, Mongena Private Game Lodge. Please use this booking link: Mongena Room Reservations
A few things to remember:
International guests do not need to pay until arrival at the lodge.
All prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR), not U.S. dollars.
Please remember the date format in South Africa is Day/Month/Year, not Month/Day/Year.
Once you’ve completed your booking form, email it to wedres@mongena.co.zaand be sure to mention that you’re attending the Davis–de Wet wedding so they can place you in the correct room block.
-
If you’re joining us for the “Buddymoon,” you’ll need to book a flight from O.R. Tambo (JNB) to Cape Town (CPT) on March 23, 2026.
To make things easy, we recommend one of these early morning flights:
South African Airways — departs 9:25 AM from O.R. Tambo (JNB)
FlySafair — departs 9:40 AM from O.R. Tambo (JNB)
There will also be transportation from the lodge to O.R. Tambo on the morning of the 23rd, so you won’t need to worry about getting to the airport—just hop on and enjoy the ride.
Once everyone has arrived in Cape Town, our tour operator will meet us at the airport, guide us on a city tour, and then drop each guest off at their specific hotel.
Once you’ve booked your Cape Town flight, please email your flight details to Marius at mdewet@mac.com so we can make sure you’re all set and accounted for.
-
Your next step is to book your Buddymoon hotel. All available hotel options can be found on our wedding website at the bottom of the “Buddymoon” page.
Each package includes all excursions, meals (except dinner on the 24th and 25th). You’ll also find detailed itineraries for each day and a full breakdown of what’s included.
For reference, Marius and I will be staying at the Sky Hotel from March 23rd–26th if you’d like to be nearby!
-
Next, email Nathan at Nathan@khayatours.com to confirm your hotel choice and secure your spot. He’ll send you an invoice, and you can pay using the payment link on our wedding website under the “Buddymoon” page.
-
You are welcome to keep the adventure going! If you’d like to extend your stay, Nathan at Khaya Tours can help you arrange additional nights or activities. Khaya Tours also offers a variety of add-on experiences you can book. You can find the link to them HERE.
And if you’re hoping to explore even more of South Africa, feel free to reach out to Marius or Melissa—we’re always happy to share recommendations for incredible places to visit.
When to Arrive
Guests are welcome to begin arriving at Mongena Private Game Lodge as early as Thursday, March 19, 2026. To make travel simple, shuttle service will be provided from OR Tambo International Airport directly to the lodge.
We recommend planning your arrival in South Africa no later than the 19th if you’d like to join in on all the wedding festivities. Our Bush Braai is Friday evening, and the wedding celebration is on Saturday, so arriving by Thursday gives you plenty of time to settle in and enjoy. We do, however, recommend avoiding travel into downtown Johannesburg, as it is less safe compared to the surrounding areas.
Let’s talk hotels!
Traveling abroad can be stressful, so we are here to help! We've reserved a room block at Mongena Private Game Lodge, where all the wedding fun will happen. For guests planning to arrive a few days early, we'll also have a room block at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Pretoria Menlyn. We recommend staying there if you're coming in earlier than March 19th, 2026 — it's in a safe area, close to lots of great restaurants, and a perfect spot to relax before heading out to the lodge.
There are also plenty of other awesome places to stay nearby if you want to explore different options. Whether you're joining us for the full safari experience or planning to do a little extra adventuring, we can't wait to share this amazing trip with you!
Protea Fire & Ice! Menlyn
Arrival before March 18, 2026
We recommend staying at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Pretoria Menlyn. It’s next to Menlyn Mall. The hotel’s in a safe, lively area with a fun, modern vibe — it’s a great spot to relax, and settle in before the wedding.
Mongena Game Lodge
March 19,2026 - March 23, 2026
We’ve reserved the entire Mongena Private Game Lodge for our wedding weekend. This stunning private reserve offers an unforgettable safari experience with all members of the Big Five. To book your stay, please use the link below.
Cape Town Travel & Accommodations
On the morning of March 23, 2026, we’ll be departing together from Mongena Private Game Lodge and heading straight to OR Tambo International Airport for our flights to Cape Town. We kindly request that all Cape Town flights be booked to arrive no later than 12:00 PM on March 23rd, so everyone can join in on the scheduled activities that afternoon. We’ll be in Cape Town until March 26th, and you can find all the details about hotels, itineraries, and activities on our “Buddymoon” page.
